Pebblz Grey Sink Mat Large

I almost didn't buy this product, as these mats had so many critical reviews. However, I needed something to protect my new sink and could find nothing that looked any better. I am glad I took the risk. I have been using it now for 5 months. I don't own a dishwasher, so the sink gets a lot of use. The mat still looks as good as new. Admittedly I have avoided tipping curry sauce or black coffee etc over it, and have rinsed and wiped it after use. Surely this is no hardship - it only takes a minute.

I bought this to fit under a bowl to protect my new sink. I had read that it had a tendancy to stain, so have been very careful not to let coffee/tomato juice come into contact. It has been swilled with clean water every time we emptied the bowl, which is seldom as we use a dishwasher. We have only one tiny stain that is barely noticeable. However, my big complaint is the smell. It makes the whole sink area smell dirty. I have repeatedly cleaned it, including kitchen cleaner with bleach, but nothing has eliminated the smell. Unless I can find something that will, it will be thrown in the bin.

I bought this to protect my new sink but the smell is so bad I'm about to put it in the bin. I've tried washing with just about everything I've got and it just doesn't get any better. This is not due to food or grime, it's the PVC that stinks. I wish I'd read the reviews before buying but I was in the store and just picked it up as it matches my new kitchen's colours.
