I bought some of these recently, I have used the chemical type cleaners before and don't like those so much, always worried that there's some left in the kettle, so these are really simple and have worked perfectly for me.I see the comments below and haven't experienced that, of course I'm realistic, they are metal, so will use them for a bit and then replace.
I live in a hard water area and have always had problems with limescale in my kettle. However since leaving one of these magic balls inside, the build-up has lessened dramatically. The little ball attracts the limescale; you just replace it when full. I will certainly buy again.
Within a week they were rusting in the kettle and leaving a rust mark on the bottom of my kettle. Water turned rust brown. Terrible.

Much like the previous reviewer, I put these in my kettle and within a couple of days noticed that there are brown specs in the water and on the kettle itself. The descalers appear to be rusting rather than descaling!

I bought and received this product about a week ago. I immediately placed one in my kettle and was amazed to discover a few days later that I had brown water in my kettle! The metal had rusted! I would prefer to give this product 0 stars, but unfortunately that option isn't allowed!
