"Sink mat"

I have used this sink mats for years one each in sink and drainer in both kitchen and utility room and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Lots of my friends have also purchased them after seeing mine and as far as I am aware no one has had any problems.

"Problem solved"

Other reviewers mentioned staining. I too noticed discolouration in spite of cleaning in dishwasher. I think I've accidentally solved my problem at any rate. I wanted to clean a small dish and as I frequently do, I popped a dishwasher tablet in quite hot water in the sink with the mat in place. This cleaned not only the dish but the mat was like new afterwards. I haven't tried Bio laundry liquid but i imagine it might have the same effect.

"Discolouration"

I bought two of these, one to go in my new Silgranit sink and one to go on the draining board. The one on the draining board is ok, I just have to lift it each time to wipe down as water tends to be trapped within the mat area, but the one in the sink has started to become discoloured and holds onto the dirty water so it looks a bit messy in use. I have stopped using the sink mat in the sink and will just bring it out of the cupboard if we are not using the washing up bowl for any reason - my sink looks nicer without the mat anyway.

Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry the mat has discolored. We do recommend to rinse the mat after use especially when tomato based foods or tea and coffee crockery items have been used. These items can discolor the PVC over time. Rinsing the mat regularly will help.

I've had one of these mats for a few years before it finally needed replacing. They do stain quite easily, but most comes out in the dishwasher or with a soak in a bit of bleach, so easily fixed. The problem is the new mats seem to be a slightly thicker material and the discs no longer have beveled edges, meaning when the water hits it goes everywhere... Floor, window, benches, you, the lot, so very disappointing compared to the older version.

"Does the job"

I have been well using the regular size mat for three weeks and it's still looking new. We do use a washing up bowl. Having read the reviews re staining on other mats I've been ensuring it was rinsed thoroughly after washing up. However, hubby ignored the reviews and rinsed a tom soup tin out down the side of the washing up bowl and left it. Great, I thought, next day when I saw the orange staining but I laid mat on draining board covered in neat bleach. Staining gone. The circles I had left from the plug hole cut out make great replacements for lost feet for the glass worktop protectors.
