If you live in a hard water area, here's a clever way to extend the life of irons and steam cleaners by helping to prevent limescale build-up (it's also great for the De Luxe Multi-Steam Mop).
Fill the bottle with ordinary tap water then give it a shake to activate the water-softening crystals before filling your appliance as normal. A filter in the neck of the bottle keeps the crystals safely in place ready to re-use again and again, until they turn from orange to red, making up to approx. 10 litres of treated water.

This is essential for using a steam mop if you live in a hard water area like we do. The crystals start to colour as you use it and eventually it loses its water softening properties. We now only put filtered water in our water softener and six months after buying this, its still going strong!
I live in a hard water area and since I started using this product I've had no problems with my iron. It last months and worth every penny
Not impressed with this Water Softener . Firstly the bottle is very small and the softened water did nothing on the scale that was already there. In fact after 6 mixes, the crystals seemed to have little effect on tap water added. Will stick to proper containers of distilled water - better value. A gimmick that does not work and has no independant endorsement.
