iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner 530

Product number: 21580

Unfortunately due to high demand we have sold out of the Roomba 530, however we are pleased to announce we will shortly be stocking the iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner 560.

Hot on the wheels of last year's endearing robot vac, iRobot have launched a new improved big brother version, without compromising on price. In case you missed out on last year's model, Roomba allows you to have clean, dust-free floors and carpets without lifting a finger: just press a button, walk away, and the UFO-shaped machine will methodically make its way around the room, allowing you to put your feet up or get on with other things.

  • Helpful voice demo explains all, meaning you get the most from your machine.
  • Brushes now spin at 1650rpm, removing more dirt than ever before.
  • Double the suction power of the previous model, removing hair from carpets quicker and more effectively.
  • Improved brush technology reaches into corners.
  • 33% more dust capacity than previous model.
  • Sensors ensure that every available inch of floor is cleaned in the optimum time, whilst keeping the vac in an area of your choice and preventing it from falling downstairs.
  • Cleaning head automatically adjusts from carpets to hard floors.
  • Dirt detector ensures that Roomba focuses on an area until clean.

(Not recommended for deep pile carpets.)

"My new friend"

star star star star star_border

This is my new friend enabling me to vacuum more frequently and keep down the dust to which I have an allergy. It travels under tables and behind the sofa that I would normally have to move. The suction is probably less than my high power vac but the regular use probably achieves a similar effect overall with less effort. The downside is a small dust container than needs to be emptied after every use and in a house with long haired occupants the hair tends to twist around the spindles of the brushes. This is not so difficult to remove with scissors but the design could be improved.

"If you are in two minds, go for it!"

I have a roomba (albeit a slightly different model - I bought it before they were available from Lakeland) and I wouldn't be without it now. It takes a little longer to clean a room than you would spend with a conventional cleaner, but it does a much more thorough job.We move small bits of furniture and toys etc so that it can do it's job more effectively, but I have been known to leave stuff in place on a lazy day! I have long hair which has a tendency to shed and get wound around the brushes, so I generally remove the hair and empty the collection bin after cleaning 1 or 2 rooms, but this is much less effort that wrestling the old vacuum cleaner was.A friend was skeptical about them, so we took our roomba to his house and set it going on the floor he had vacuumed thoroughly that morning. He was so shocked at how much roomba picked up that he went out and bought one himself!I have also found Domotec (repairers) to be very efficient at responding to me questions by email - they replied in under an hour!So if you are in two minds, with Domotec's help and expertise and Lakeland's fantastic guarantee as backup, I would go for it.

"Wonderful"

I'm so glad I bought this, it trundles round while I'm doing other things.I'm keeping the house cleaner, as I just set it off regularly before I go to work, and tidy too so I can help it get round the floor without too many added obstacles.I

"Great labour saver"

I struggle to vacuum due to back problems and find the Roomba great, though not perfect.I have wooden floors throughout my house and it's fab to see all the fluff being sucked up as if by magic. However, I personally find it makes a better job if I move the furniture, eg. I lift dining chairs up onto the table. There are things it does struggle with. I have a thin rug in the bathroom and it simply rolls the edges up and gets stuck. Also it gets stuck under my electric armchair in the lounge. I also still hoover the hall myself, as it's L shaped and Roomba took about an hour to do it which drove me crazy. You also have to be fastidious about emptying the very small dust bag, and do have to get down and dirty removing the hairs that get wrapped round its rollers. But it's fantastic in my square kitchen and hoovers a treat under the bed which, with wooden floors, is always covered in huge balls of fluff. It tells you of any problems and I'm constantly in awe when it returns back to its docking station after hoovering to recharge! I certain hoover much more than I used to as there is very little effort involved. On the whole a smashing piece of kit, so long as you bear in mind it's limitations.

"Worn out after 6 months!"

I was happy with my iRobot when I first got it and found it did a great job.Just recently however , I noticed that it just wouldn't pick anything up. I changed the filter and checked the brushes etc but the motor sounded different. I called Lakeland and told them about my disappointment and thay said without question that they would send me a free replacement as their products come with a lifetime guarantee. True to their word a nice new one arrived yesterday and it works a treat. Listening to the old one next to it, it definitely sounds as though the motor has worn out so time will tell if the new one lasts longer .I would definitely recommend it when in full working order!
