Soap Nuts

was really excited when i read all the reviews about soap nuts, thought they sounded too good to be true. I have tried them about half a dozen times & am extremely disappointed, they did not wash as well as washing powder at all, in fact the last time i had to re-wash using powder and i even used well over the recommended quantity! :0(

Like many others I had heard of soap nuts, but wasn't sure if they would be effective. I happened to be in the Brent Cross store and saw some on display so I thought I'd give them a go.I must admit I was very impressed. I couldn't believe that the clothes could be that soft without adding any fabric softener. I now use them all the time for my coloured wash, but like Mrs James I have had a couple of problems with washing white items. Several white shirts and tops, as well as a large white duvet cover, have acquired pale brown stains, which will not come out. It seems mostly to happen if I don't take the washing out of the machine as soon as it finishes, so in future I shall be using them for coloureds only.However, if anyone has found a way of preventing these stains, or of removing them I would be very pleased to hear about it

I have been using soap nuts for quite a while now and am amazed at how good they are. My daughter's jodhpurs and the socks she wears at the stables (which are using a becoming shade of brown!) are sparkling. I particularly love the softness of the clothes and the way the cloths don't smell of a manufactured fragrance, but just smell fresh all day. I have never had a problem with brown stains and the water is lovely and soapy. However I do find the bag a bit awkward. A small net bag with a drawstring of the type that you find on fleeces would work much better. But that's a small thing. My husband's psoriasis has cleared up since using them too - amazing as he's had it for years!!!

Having just tried the soap nuts I have to tell you how impressed I am with them. Not only are the clothes clean but considerably brighter. Both colours and whites. So much so I am ordering more to give my daughter at university to try and get her clothes as clean and bright.Thanks again Lakeland fot brilliant products.

I love using soapnuts because it is good for my families skin and asthma as well as kind to the environment. I have just read a brilliant idea for solving the bag problem - use an old sock to put the soap nuts in and just loosley tie it in a knot.
