Retractable Outdoor Clothesline

Product number: 20016

A permanent washing line can look so unattractive and gets in the way, especially in a smaller garden.

Folding against the wall when not in use, this discreet, unobtrusive retractable version is the ideal solution between laundry days. Coiled inside its rustproof housing is a full 11m (36ft) of plastic-coated washing line, which unreels and recoils in seconds.

Wall fixings and hook included.

"rubbish"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Having had cheap retractable lines in the past I thought I would invest in one of yours I wish I hadn't bothered this line was put up in August it stretched beyond belief even with the use of a clothes prop, and has snapped twice. On inspection when it broke yesterday dropping all my washing once again onto the garden I discovered that it is just plastic with nothing within it.I shall be returning this to your Ipswich store this week. I have been a satisfied lakeland customer for years, please don't start stocking rubbish like this.

"Such poor quality :-("

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I bought one of these at a Lakeland shop two years ago to replace my old trusty one. It is an absolute disaster. Even with two clothes props, the line stretches so much that the washing just droops between the two props. These clotheslines are a really handy design, and I am so cross that Lakeland sells such a poor quality one. With two sons, my line is used a lot, and so often the washing is dumped on the ground by this line. Disappointed - it deserves zero stars but I have to give it one, apparently.

"Very disappointing"

During this last decade, I have used two of your retractable clothes lines with great success. The ease of rewinding and storage was terrific. When renewing, I bought a double line but unfortunately it sagged greatly whilst hanging the washing and was unstable using a clothes prop. I chastised myself for not purchasing a Lakeland product. Now having replaced this double, I discover that the new LAKELAND is of a similar design!! What has happened to reliability, stability or ’Fit for Purpose’? What criteria were used when a replacement was sough?

"Good and bad"

I brought two a few years ago as I liked the idea that you could put your line away neatly after use or during the winter. The problem is the line itself has a slight give so once you put all your washing out it bows under the weight of it, dropping the line down. This combined with the fact that the line is really difficult to shorten into the T bar mechanism means that I have an annoying, droopy washing line. I went to visit a friend and saw her using a washing line prop which raises up the line and works a treat. Will be buying two asap. It’s a shame that Lakeland doesn’t sell them.

Thanks for your helpful review. For best results we'd recommend using a washing line prop. We'll pass your suggestion to consider stocking them to our buyers.

"Still going strong"

This review is for an older version of this product

I bought this some time ago and thought I would give it plenty of time before writing a review as there are mixed views. I have used mine virtually every day except in the middle of winter and hung everything and anything on it. I've always used a clothes prop which may help to support the weight but mine is still going strong. It winds in easily too. I wouldn't be without it.
