Retractable Outdoor Clothesline

Wow - I was so surprised to read these reviews?! I only just popped in (well, to the web site) to buy another of these, as mine (I have two) have been so, so good. We run a small B&B in France, and have tons and tons of laundry on both lines just about every single day, day-in and day-out, for about seven months of the year: big thick towels, heavy duvet covers, bath mats . .. etc etc! I am only buying another one as finally - after four years - one of the lines has snapped. But that was after four years exposed to the elements and a lot of heavy use. So, I am just stopping by to get a replacement - and was so surprised to see these reviews. Not sure what happened to these customers - but for me this product has always been five stars - and a real life-saver!

I bought this some time ago and thought I would give it plenty of time before writing a review as there are mixed views. I have used mine virtually every day except in the middle of winter and hung everything and anything on it. I've always used a clothes prop which may help to support the weight but mine is still going strong. It winds in easily too. I wouldn't be without it.

I bought this after having an extension built on the back of the house and my old clothes line had to be dismantled. I must admit that my husband put it up with different fixings to the ones supplied, he used plugs also. I do use it with a prop, but then I always have, whatever line I have had. I love the neatness and the fact that I don't have to clean the line before each use and that is safely stowed out of the reach of my two children, it also doesn't hamper any view of the garden. I never liked the idea of a "whirly gig" and this is the perfect solution, I've got my line without any of the problems I had from a fixed line before. Many thanks Lakeland, keep up the good work.

After reading some reviews on your website, I decided against buying this product as peoples comments put me off. Then after having a clear out my mother-in-law gave me one she found in her cupboard, so I thought I would give it a go. And I have to say I was really surprised! It was not like any of the negative reviews people had given, as it works and has a lot of washing on it and not snapped! One thing I would say is that when we have a full load of washing on it, we do put a pole in the middle of the line to make sure it doesn't sag near the ground. I think the retractable clothes line is excellent. As I type it is stretched across 8 metres of garden with a full load of towels on it and it's holding out fine. I'd recommend this product. It's very easily attached and the t-bar keeps the line taut.
