These scales feature an attractive acacia wood base, which is designed to save your worktop from scratches. The stainless steel bowl is much easier to clean than brass, and can even go in the dishwasher for added convenience.
There are also Metric weights available separately to accompany them.

After having some traditional weighing scales for many years, I decided to try a mechanical set when the tray of these became worn. However I found it very hard to get an accurate reading when weighing small amounts. I decided to treat myself and invest in the traditional cast iron balance kitchen weighing scale advertised by Lakeland and am so glad I did. The sales assistant I spoke to in Scotland when ordering was so helpful.
Bought these sturdy scales as the "Retro" scales I purchased here "collapsed". Two tiny screws loosened off plate that held bowl and were too tricky and fiddly to screw back - eventually lost the screws. Anyhow, these scales are study and look great on my counter. Also purchased the metric weights - not a problem where to put them (as previous reviewer mentioned), they are nicely displayed as a pyramid on the scale plate (ta-dah!).
Recently purchased this set of scales and weights. The bowl is a large size and holds 2lb of dry ingredients with ease, a question I had asked Lakelands myself. Lovely wooden base on it, would be good if base was larger so that weights could be stood on it as well. sturdy heavy weights hopefully will last years
