"interesting.." star star star_border star_border star_border i adore basil, grow my own and was interested to see what extract would be like. quite pleasant flavour, but be careful not to ut too much. the flavour is not really basil. it is more like anis. smells and tastes like ouzo, however it can still be very useful--- but not as basil. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review. "Horrid" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I bought the basil and garlic extracts because I thought they might prove a useful short cut when time is short or I do not have fresh basil. I'm not sure what the basil extract smells of but it certainly isn't basil - it has imparted a rather unpleasant taste to the pasta sauce I am making and will have to experiment now to try to get rid of it! Also be aware that it flamed up when added to hot tomatoes. The garlic does at least smell of garlic but I will not use either again - total waste of money.I wish you has an option to give no stars! support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review. "Strong Aniseed Taste" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I really like the garlic extract in this range so I had high hopes for this basil extract but I was really disappointed. I've tried it cold in a salad dressing, and stirring it into a tomato pasta sauce at the end of cooking just before serving, but in both the overpowering taste was of aniseed rather than basil. So I presume it could be used in thai recipes instead of thai basil, but it's not a good substitute for "common" basil to go with Italian-style tomato sauces support_agent A note from the team Thank you for placing your review.
