Chef'n Pull'n Slice Mandoline

Product number: 19283

We know that, up until now, mandolines have been a ‘love them or hate them’ product, but this Chef'n Pull’n Slice Mandoline has been designed to be as safe as possible, helping you speed up prep. Samm, our Merchandising Manager and long-term mandoline-avoider was so reassured by its safety features – your fingers are never near the blade in use – that she said it was the first mandoline she had ever been confident to use.

Designed for Safety

Chef’n have completely reimagined the mandoline with safety in mind and, whether you slice, shred, julienne or dice, it’s incredibly easy to use. As soon as you try it, you’ll see why even the most reluctant of us have been converted to mandoline fans.

While one hand is on the safety guard, the other is holding the handle of the base board, absolutely nowhere near the blade! And this is where Chef’n’s mandoline is unique; instead of moving the safety guard back and forth over an exposed blade, you pull and push the base board instead. So simple, and so safe. Precise, uniformly sliced food drops onto the surface below, and with 7 different options, it’ll speed up all those tasks that can take an age when you’ve got a lot to prepare.

7 Different Slice Settings

There’s a dial on the side that lets you select from four thicknesses, and as well as a permanently fixed, super-sharp stainless steel blade that can slice even soft items like tomatoes, there’s a julienne and a French fry blade.

Non-slip feet hold it securely in place and a large safety guard protects fingers as it securely holds food – its silicone collar squashes down so you can slice every last bit of the your fruit or veg and, unlike with most mandolines, you don’t need to apply pressure to the safety guard – in fact, the less pressure applied, the better it slices!

Safe-Store Position

After use, there’s a ‘safe store’ position, on-board storage for the second blade, and a storage case for the third. Its performance is very impressive, the results are great and, thanks to all the thoughtful safety features, we’d go so far as to say this one-of-a-kind mandoline is the very best we’ve ever sold.

"Very Disappointing!!"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

After many years of solid service, I decided to renew my old Mandoline. I have always found Lakeland products to be exceptional, but not this one, unfortunately. I have given it three goes, but found that it is just not up to the job. Push pull mechanism is cumbersome, and the mandoline slides about. Legs are not wide enough to go over a decent sized bowl. Hand-guide is static, therefore end pieces of veg are left uncut, and need finishing with a knife. Not a tool I would recommend sadly!!

If I had read the reviews before I bought this mandolin I wouldn't have bought it. However, having bought it and used it, it works perfectly. All the problems I had at first were my "user errors." Particularly the strength needed to push down on it. I found that using the palm of may hand and gripping the edge of the mandolin (your fingers are nowhere near the blade) kept the base steady and no strength needed. Also after a couple of uses the silicone collar softened and became easy to use. I have only sliced with it so far but am very pleased with the results.

With most mandolines you hold the board safe and steady with one hand and slide the veg with the other; simple cutting with light pressure. With this daft design you slide the deck in one direction and push the veg in another, and with only inadequate rubber feet to hold it steady (cut veg release liquid, who knew?) the only way to stop it jumping around (short of growing a third hand or nailing it down) is pressing so hard your 1.5mm sweet potato slices come out 2.5-3mm. Even in the YouTube demo you see it move. It's like trying to drill a hole in the ceiling standing on an office chair.

We purchased the mandoline just before Christmas, had 3 attempts to use it, but found it much easier to use a knife or grater. Was looking forward to using the Lakeland mandoline as thought it would be best quality and easy to use at the price of it. Very disappointing!

Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. The staff at the store will be happy to help when you return the mandoline.

"Very disappointed"

I decided to buy this expensive slicer as I need a good quality one. I fell for the sales hype. This is safe enough when slicing but lethal when handling parts separately. Being a warfarin taker this has been a problem. Recently a fresh onion bent some of the little blades and the slicing mechanism is totally compromised. Really disappointing.
