Round Banneton Basket

Product number: 19271

For real artisan results at home, you just can’t beat the effect of making bread by hand. Placing your dough in one of these traditional banneton baskets provides support as your loaf proves so it holds its shape better, as well as forming a lovely concentric pattern on top, while the rattan cane wicks away moisture from the dough to create a crispier crust. Dust with flour before use. Wipe clean.

"Works well for proving dough"

star star star star star

Basket was excellent for the second rise of sourdough bread. It is not meant for baking but helps keep some shape for softer doughs. Important to flour well so bread doesn't stick but I found it worked very well and you do get a beautiful pattern on the finished loaf. Try Paul Hollywood's recipe for sourdough and the Breadtopia website for tips.

I bought this basket from Lakeland as I trust their products, however I was very disappointed in this product. The label was stuck on so well on the inside of the basket that we couldn't remove the glue which made it unuseable. I have returned the item to a local store and was refunded the cost. Thank you

Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that your label left a glue residue showing and are pleased that our store colleagues have been able to help. Glue residue can be removed using our sticky stuff remover (item 8976) or a solution of baking soda and water paste (just rub in gently then wipe off with a warm wet cloth).

Likewise, I have been very disappointed by this product. I may have misunderstood the use of it as I actually cooked my bread in it and the result is disastrous as the basket is slightly burnt and the bread was stuck to it. I feel that not enough information is given and the description given by Lakeland is misleading. Is the product for proofing only? If so, this is not what I wanted.

Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry for any confusion caused. The Banneton baskets are a traditional proving basket and not a baker. We'll be in touch shortly to help.
