Silicone Baking Beads

I brought these thinking what a good idea, how wrong was I. I even brought a 2nd one in Chichester store. You cannot get them near the edges of the pastry and they are not heavy enough to weigh the pastry down so it still rises under them. I will stick with my ceramic beans much better.

I was so looking forward to using the silicone baking beads and although I thought the price was a bit steep I just had to buy them. Sadly they were not heavy enough to stop the pastry from both rising and cooking unevenly. Perhaps a second string might help but very expensive if it does not work.

Thought what a great idea until i tried them . Not heavy enough to weigh the pastry down and awkward to put in. Really disappointed in them.

I too thought this was a good idea but obviously didn't look closely at the product because i assumed it would be like a rigid sheet. I found what was in reality just a string of beads very difficult to handle and not up to the job. Too lightweight and with large gaps. I had to go back to my old metal baking beans in disgust. Sorry but not up to the usual Lakeland standard - a waste of £9.99
