Easy to use very effective knife sharpening tool. Sharpens in seconds. Very pleased.
I have (had) a lot of knives that have become blunt over time and have tried various sharpening devices. These haven't worked too well. The steel however sharpens exceptionally well. Even completely blunt knives become sharp in a few strokes and less than a minute. There is a technique to learn but a number of YouTube videos show you how to do it, and the instructions enclosed with the item are helpful. The steel appears to be very well made (in Sheffield - where else?) and looks like it will last a lifetime. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others.
Really worked well, far better than the gadget I had been using before. There is a knack to using it, but it isn't difficult to learn. Definitely recommend this.
Our trusty old steel finally wore out so we bought this as its replacement. It has a solid feel to it and is comfortable to hold as you sharpen the knife. Our knives are very sharp now so it must be doing its job well!
Chef/Butcher training in the 70's taught me that a good steel is essential to hone a properly sharpened knife. This gives a good edge to my knives, and is comfortable to use. As all my knives are properly sharpened, using a whet stone, restoring the cut with a steel is a simple but necessary practice. I can highly recommend this tool, and hope it lasts a long time.
