"Good for beginners" star star star star star_border I’m making Xmas hampers for family and wanted to make a selection of jams and chutneys. As a beginner this pan has been very useful. It’s not too big, but enough to fit the ingredients for my desired recipes (which has been about 4 x 500g jars worth per recipe with additional room for more if needed). The only downside for me is the fact that it spits - when bringing jam to a rolling boil whilst waiting for the setting temp to reach 105*C, the jam had a tendency to spit out boiling hot jam. The pan is easy to clean and store.
"Light but Sturdy" star star star star star Well constructed pan easy to use and suitable for many heat sources
"Excellent small jam pan" star star star star star_border Ideal for 1kg or less of fruit. More would be a push during rapid boil. Even heat distribution on an AGA cooker, easy and stable to handle on and off the heat. The pan would be perfect if the pouring lip was slightly more pronounce to direct hot liquid for jar filling.
"Produced excellent jam" star star star star star Bought this last week to replace my very old and large preserving pan, which would not work on our new induction hob. My husband (and chief preserves cook!) used it for the first time yesterday to make jam with the last of our gooseberries. He pronounced it an excellent performer - easy to lift and pour and no sticking or burning. Might have to consider the larger version before making Seville orange marmelade next year!
