"This is the Droid you're looking for."

My husband, who has no baking experience whatsoever, agreed that if I bought this cake pan he would make it for me for my birthday. Make it he did. His only question was about the recipe, it states 8 eggs. Normally I use half the amount of eggs to other ingredients so 8 eggs = 16oz Flour, Butter & Sugar. Cake took longer to cook and had to cover it in tinfoil halfway through cooking to stop any burning. Also liberally covered in inside with Cake Release (another fantastic Lakeland product) and R2 popped out no problems.

"great results"

This is the first time I have used a silicon cake mould - I used the Lakeland cake release to increase my chances of success. As previously mentioned a cake recipe would have been handy on the box, but other than that the cake came out of the mould perfectly. I covered the cake with fondant icing and pressed the icing into the mould to get the detail to add on to the cake. I had an extremely happy 6 year old.

"Great cake mould"

I recently did a practice run with this for my son's 6th birthday next month. Having read previous reviews, I coated the mould liberally with cake release (using a pastry brush). I'm not much of a "from scratch" baker and I was very happy to find the mould was the perfect size for 3 boxes of vanilla sponge cake mixes (which in total uses 9 eggs). I cooked it low and slow, about 100 minutes on 160 degrees. The cake came out perfectly, cooked through and only a little browned on the feet. I've yet to decorate on but when I do I will use the mould to get detail on the fondant icing.

"Wonderful present idea"

Bought this for my son for xmas and was a bit worried about getting him a cake tin (though he has been asking to buy it!) but the packaging is fantastic! I'm sure we'll get the hang of the mould, but I wanted to say that the 'unwrapping wow factor' of this is really good: It's in a big, substantial, heavy box with Star Wars all over it, Darth vader, and so on, and it just looks the part perfectly. Thank you

"Decorating is tricky, but looks fab once done"

Used this today and thought it was great. Used my normal cake mix and just doubled it, so used 6 eggs, and although it did take about an hour to cook it come out looking pretty good. Decorating it was a pain in the butt, and it would be great if it came with some instructions and a recommended recipe for baking the cake and decorating, but on the whole I'd recommend!
