Mini Chip Kit

I bought this with the intention of making crisps with no fat. The small mandolin cut the potato very thin which was great but unfortunately most were half a circle but not too worried. My microwave is only 800watt so it took 7minutes to cook. However I was pleased with the taste once I had put salt and Worcester sauce on (my taste!)and I think the idea is great. I am thinking now though of getting either a peeler or mandolin which would include julienne, but will definitely use the trays again

Is this a product that seemed too good to be true? I wanted apple crisps but so far have nothing more than sad, limp little apple slices. Any suggestions to improve the end result?

Excited by the prospect of gorging ourselves post Christmas on low fat vegetable crisps, we asked for one of these as a Christmas gift from friends. Wish we hadn't. It took almost 15 minutes to do 1 set of potato slices and 20+ mins for 1 set of carrot slices. We used the mandolin that was enclosed and followed instructions to the 't' -one layer, less than 1mm thick, patted dry with kitchen paper, no overlaps. They were still somewhat soggy especially the carrots which also started going grey in the middle. Cannot ever see 3 mins in our 1000watt microwave crisping these up.

As I really enjoyed vegetable crisps I thought this kit would be great because I could make them at home and they would be nice and healthy. I initially tried carrot which after 3+ minutes were still really soggy, I retried it making sure the carrot was dried first but it was no different. I then tried potato but it was no better. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product.

Got this as a Christmas present. Followed the instructions diligently with no success. Only way to get it too work was to dry the slices in the oven and then microwave which is completely self defeating and time consuming. Sorry would not recommend
