Klip It Microwave Cookware - Red Lidded Rice Steamer

As the title says this is the best gadget I have ever bought! As the previous poster states the instructions are not the best but the details they gave for cooking brown rice were perfect. I use a cup of rice to two cups of water and I get perfect rice every time. If you have problems cooking rice in a pan like I have then give this a try you will not regret it. Now using it to cook all my rice rather than buying expensive pre-cooked microwave rice sachets. Thank you Lakeland.

My father cannot cook rice. My husband can't cook rice well. My mother and I cooked adequate rice for years, before my Arabian friend's mother gave me an in-depth lesson on how to make the world's best rice. I successfully recreated the miracle rice. Then I bought this (I have no idea why, as I only generally microwave milk or beans). It created the SAME miracle rice!! With such little effort and no gazing over the pan to check the water and timing constantly. And so easy to clean! It really does need better instructions though - esp. for brown rice.

I love this rice cooker. Instructions for cooking basmati rice: 1cup of rice - wash the rice in the container - changing the water at least 3 times. Remove as much excess water as you can tip out without losing the rice. Add 1 1/2 cups of water. Let it soak for 20 mins. Microwave for 8 minutes at 900W. Let it stand for a minute or two before serving. Use a plastic plate with handles under the container to catch the over spilled water. Also helps when removing hot items from the microwave oven. This amount can serve 3 to 4 people. I bag and freeze any leftovers to microwave another time.

This was an impulse buy which caught my eye as the product was half price! I've been using twice a week since I purchased and its an excellent gadget that I will continue to use - forever! No more rice stuck to the saucepan for me. The instructions are rather vague and finding your perfect quantity/cooking time is trial and error. For 2 modest portions, I am using 100g of rice, 200ml of water (I always double the water) and cook for 10 mins, stand for 2. So good I'm tempted to go back into the store and buy a few more for useful stocking fillers this Christmas.

This product fits ok in my microwave. Ht is actually 16.5 cm not 21.5cm. Diameter, inc lugs on lid, is 22.5cm. These are different to dimensions currently shown on website. For 1 person I used 1/2 a cup, (just over 100 ml) rice, and 300 ml cold water. With trial & error, found ideal cooking time = 12 mins + 5 mins standing. Nice sticky/fluffy rice. Instructions say have slots in lid 90 degrees from slots in pressure chamber lid. To avoid overflow, make slots in lid 45 degrees from slots in pressure chamber. Nice product to replace my ageing Rice Steamer no longer manufactured.
