Tilting Icing Turntable

Unlike the previous reviewer, who must have had a dodgy turntable , I found mine to be a life saver. Made my first wedding cake and it coped with a 23cm sponge on the tilt without slipping.Had no problem with the turntable on the level either. The tilt was brilliant for icing the sides . Previous reviewer's turntable doesn't have to sit in the back of the cupboard either, as Lakeland will take it back if it doesn't work or is damaged, without quibbling. That's why I buy from Lakeland.

After seeing that 3 of the 4 reviews left here were negative, I wanted to review this product as I feel it's been made out to be worse than it is! I've had this for a few years now and really love it! I must admit I don't really use the tilt function. I agree that the top does come off the base easily but only if you're lifting it using the top only with a cake on it. If you know it does that, why would you try to move it with a cake on the top of it anyway? Overall I've found the turntable to be very useful and it replaced a cheaper version that was awful. I would recommend it to a friend.

I bought this in store a while back and to start with it was great, I loved the fact that it tilted to make decorating the sides much easier but the last couple of times I've used it I've found that as I turn the cake it tilts whether I'm wanting it to or not. I've had a couple of near misses and have lost all confidence in it so shall not be using it again.

I was given this turntable as a birthday present from my children. While the concept is great, in that you can tilt it to several inclinations, the whole structure was too wobbly. This was particularly noticeable when using it in the level setting, where it inadvertently tilts several degrees as you apply any significant pressure to the cake which makes it very difficult to get a nice even butter-cream coat. Sadly it will be relegated to the back of the cupboard while I explore other options.

I purchased this from the Lakeland shop quite a few months ago, before I had got properly into cake decorating, so didn't take it back when I should have done. Problems: it is not stable, which I now find annoying as I am more serious about cake decorating. I'm buying a replacement. The top turntable comes off very easily - it is just resting in the hole, which has led to some near misses. Most seriously, the metal pivot part in the hole is off centre, meaning it does not turn smoothly and does not sit level. This is fine if you're not serious but is not good for intricate work.
