Damascus Japanese Paring Kitchen Knife 8cm Blade

Product number: 17725

Whether it’s tough-skinned veg like a sweet potato or something simple like an apple or pear that you want to peel, you need a small knife that's comfortable to hold with a really strong, sharp blade. This Damascus Paring Knife fits the bill perfectly. With a straight-edged, slightly smaller blade that most of the others on the market, it’s just right for following the shape of any fruit or vegetable to peel and pare quickly and easily without any waste.

About Lakeland Damascus Knives

Sharpened using the same techniques as those used to make Samurai swords, Damascus knives undergo a process of lamination where the super-hard carbon steel core is layered with 67 coatings of stainless steel for a distinctive blade that is strong yet flexible with a superior cutting edge.

This multi-layering technique is believed to have been discovered in Damascus around 300BC – hence the name – eventually making its way east to be perfected by Japanese sword-smiths where the blade’s finish was aptly named ‘kasumi-nagashi’ or ‘floating mist’.

Full tang with an ice-tempered blade, each beautifully balanced knife also has a comfortable riveted wooden handle to give you excellent precision and control.

"A great paring knife"

star star star star star

Having an abundance of apples to peel and core I have found this knife a joy to use. It sits very comfortably in the hand and I find the blade strong and sharp. For chopping onions i need a larger knife and I look forward to trying the chefs knife.

"Good little knife"

This is the third knife from this range I have purchesed, they offer good value are good looking and well designed. You need a whetstone to keep them sharp like any knife, this 8cm one is useful for lots of jobs too.

"Damascus knives overall experience"

star star star star star

I have bought this model and several other knives in this range and having some years experience of knives, it would be fair to say that I am impressed with the quality and finish of these tools. I noticed one reviewer expressed disappointment at having to sharpen them frequently this may due to degree angle that these knifes were originally honed at which in my opinion gives them a superior cutting performance but depending on use and what your cutting as well on how you sharpen your knives have an overall bearing I believe I personally use a fine/medium wet stone and achieve excellent result

"disappointing"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Very disappointed, despite being more expensive, this knife, whilst looking good , is nowhere near as good as the Lakeland select and fully forged ranges, which are well balanced and keep their edge beautifully, this needs sharpening every time that you use it,although OK, it is not worth the price. I only bought because I wanted a small paring knife and the other ranges do not do a knife this size.
