"Rose Garland mould"

star star star star star

There are many reasons why sugarpaste sticks to moulds. One is that it is too soft. If using large amounts of paste add 1 teasp of gum powder to 200 grms sugar paste. Knead it well and leave on one side for about twenty minutes, covered so it doesnt dry out. For smaller amounts of paste just put a pinch of the powder in and knead well. Moulds should be dusted with either cornflour, icing sugar or tiny amount of veg fat rubbed in the mould. You can also get a lovely effect by brushing edible shimmer powder into the mould. Remove excess paste from back of mould and turn out.

I used sugar paste and cornflour as a mould release and it works perfectly. Love it!

"rose garland fiasco."

My daughter is getting married next year and I am decorating her cake. In the past I have made roses etc by hand out of sugar paste, but seeing this mould, I thought it would a be quicker and easier alternative method. Not so I'm afraid. I followed all instructions but could not get a result worth using. The rose simply would not come out of the mould in tact. Very, very disappointing, and a waste of money.
