With a touch of 1950s cool about it, Typhoon’s ‘retro classic’, enamelled bread bin, accented with brushed stainless steel, is sure to make a welcome addition to any worktop. With a magnetic door closure, side air vents and a stainless steel rack, it’s large enough to hold a loaf and a couple of rolls.

Looked at this because it was featured in the Independent. It perhaps is a little lighter than it might have been but was I really expecting the weight of a vintage bin? Not really. It is not too big, it is perfect for my home baked (admittedly machine made) bread. It opens at the front and I have no problems with it sliding around. It is clean and importantly it keeps the bread fresh.
I returned this as I found the design and quality not what I expected. It slides along the granite work surface instead of the door opening when you pull to open it towards you (one handed as you would not expect to be supporting the bread bin with another hand to open it - well I wouldn't). It could do with rubber feet or something to stop it sliding along. It feels lightweight and not heavy enough whether there is bread in it or not - hence the sliding.
