OXO Good Grips® Chef's Mandoline

I've had this for a couple of years now, and I have to say it's something I couldn't do without. The build quality has stood up to two years of regular use, including being washed in the dishwasher after every use, and shows no signs of giving up yet. The blade and rest/dial come out easily for cleaning, and the rest fits in to a dishwasher perfectly. In use, it cuts very smoothly - you need to practice a bit, but that's the same with any tool of this type. If I had any criticism, the guard (cumbersome) would be one, and the fact you can't easily seem to get replacement parts.

So annoyed that I didn't read the reviews first before spending £50 on a product that doesn't deliver. The food holder seems to be the crux of the problem as it doesn't hold some vegetables but holds others so well that there is a large amount of waste. I wanted a fast and efficient way to julienne vegetables for coleslaw and this isn't the solution. Has anyone at Lakeland test driven this product?

I have just tried to use this product again and I found it almost useless for everything except straight slicing but even then the waste is totally unacceptable. I did not return it to the shop because I thought I must be using it wrong. I came on to the website to see if anyone had any tips and found all the reviews. I wish I had seen them before I bought it.

We bought this a while back and put it in storage before we got a chance to use it fully. I confirm what others say, the holder just does not work properly and julienne carrots for example are next to impossible and the last chunk of food is wasted.

Thought when I purchased this product it would do what was advised. But on using it for first time was very dangerous and pins don't hold food in place, which at one point slipped off and gouged the safe hold and lucky not my fingers. Would not recommend item. And will be returning to shop tomorrow for refund. Wish I had checked the other reviews before purchasing. Lesson learnt.
