One super-thinly sliced tomato is all it will take to convert you to ceramic knives. Slicing soft foods, like onions, tomatoes, meat or fish, with precision, the black, mirror-polished blades of these beautiful knives will retain their cutting edge for much longer than conventional, forged steel knives and will rarely, if ever, need sharpening.

Crafted from zirconium ceramic for durability, they will not rust, do not brown fruit or vegetables and are a lightweight joy to handle. Each one is decorated with the Chinese symbol for ceramic along the blade and comes with its own protective sheath.

Take care of your ceramic knives – they should not be bent, dropped, used to crush food, cut bone or frozen food – and they will reward you with many years of effortless slicing.

"Great but...."

This little cleaver is really quite perfect. Slices hard veg effortlessly and the handle is ergonomic. I have used this quite a bit and find it is my go to knife in the drawer. However, save the packaging and make sure you wash and dry the cleaver and put it straight back into its packaging to store as it is fragile (as caveated by the lakeland team) and therefore liable to nicks and chips if you don't look after it properly. That said, it takes two seconds to clean and dry so really not much additional effort required to keep it in tip top shape.

"Marvellous little tool"

I ordered this cleaver by mistake really as I thought it was bigger but trust me, it's a little diamond! I can't believe how easy it is to chop veg and herbs - don't know how I managed without it. Am now going to order one for my son for xmas as a stocking filler.

"Very fragile"

It does warn you to take care of this product. Be aware that it is very fragile and the slightest chip renders the knife useless.
