Black is one of the colours that’s really tricky to get right, especially if you’re looking for an all-natural food colouring that’s a true black to make your Halloween party cakes and bakes as sinister as possible or give ultra-sharp definition to any detailing.

Incredibly dark and suitable for colouring icing or sponge, this pure black PME food colouring from expert food colourists PME is the perfect ingredient for ensuring all the scary detailing on your creepy iced cookies and cakes comes out a convincing charcoal rather than a ghostly grey.

Ideal for spider or bat-themed cakes – including child-friendly birthday cakes featuring cartoon favourites like Batman or Mickey Mouse – it’s also sufficiently dark for getting the high definition contrast needed for any iced monochrome masterpiece like a football-themed bake or a celebration cake decorated with crisp black musical notes.

Simply add a little to icing, buttercream or sponge mixture before baking. And, as it’s highly concentrated, it’s easy to vary the intensity of your black by adding just a few drops more or less without significantly diluting your mix.
