I have been making my own popcorn for 40 years and have continually searched for a healthy non messy, quick method that doesn't leave half the kernels unpopped. I have used the saucepan method, electric popcorn maker etc, but this is the best ever and worth every penny, thank you Lakeland.
I love this product, although it seems initially pricey, it has paid for itself with trips to the cinema etc. My children love watching it pop and adding flavourings. Healthy alternative to crisps as there is no fat used. Wonderful!
I've used this for over a year now and it works perfectly every time. Remember to fill the mini container to between the two marks and use corn that is not old and is kept airtight (as it's the moisture in the kernel that causes it to pop). I tend to put the microwave on full for three minutes and stop it after about two, when the popping gets to about a second between pops. In my experience around 90% of the kernels pop - and you are left with a healthy quick snack. I've tried the air poppers and another microwave one, but this is by far the best.
When I went to use this for the first time I was hugely disappointed to find it was too tall for my microwave! I tried taking the turntable plate out and balancing it on the 'legs' of the turntable without the plate, but it was of course very unstable and kept toppling off! I did manage to cook some popcorn eventually and was amazed at how quickly it cooked (albeit quite a lot was burnt, so make sure you adjust the time for higher powered microwaves). Sadly it's just not practical for use in my microwave. Thanks to Lakeland for their impeccable customer service as ever and arranging a refund.
