I hadn't tried silicone bakewear before but, inspired by silicone candlemoulds, decided to treat myself to these canape moulds for Christmas. So quick and easy to use, didn't need greasing, and made canapes just the right size. A friend who knows about cooking commented how clever I was to make shells the same size and shape every time. Naturally, I gave Lakeland the credit!
How much fun can you have with one sheet of (all-butter) shortcrust and one jar of mincemeat? We had loads! I made 15 0s and 15Xs (topped off with a little crumble mix) and Christmas Eve saw wonderful game of Noughts and Crosses. Rules varied - losers eats all and loser eats none both seemed to work! The cases released their treat so easily that I can see doing this trick again with savouries. Topper Cutters would make the product better - could make proper mini pies
Even if you are not big on entertaining, get this as they are great for making appetisers and look so posh! Really suited to shortcrust pastry, bake the little canapes blind and then fill them with all sorts of things. Can be made the night before and then filled the next day with a selection of cold fillings (egg mayonnaise, cream cheese and salmon, tuna mayonnaise) as appetisers to go with drinks if having friends over. One review said the boats were too small but I filled them with egg mayonnaise and they were perfect. Great product and so easy to use. Great fun too.
I bought these from a shop as I needed them for Christmas Canapes. They are almost perfect. The molds are super especially with the right cutter and pusher which works. The round and Square ones are perfect. I did however think that the "boat" shaped ones needed to be a little wider at the base. This would enable them to stand up without falling sideways. Also you would be able to put a little more filling in them. But apart from that what a super idea they have turned out to be. I filled them with sweet and savoury fillings. They look so stylish with 15 of each enough for a party.
