Automated Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer V3840

Very pleased indeed with this machine, just bought it today and have spent the afternoon happily placing food out of the freezer into new air vac bags, really easy to use and I am now a happy bunny.......

After a lot of research I decided to take the advice from a very helpful and knowledgable Lakeland sales person on which foodsaver to choose and I have never looked back. It is easy to use and really does prolong the life of food both in the fridge and in the freezer, it also stops freezer burn. It is one of the best pieces of kitchen equipment I have ever bought. The only slight downside is the cost of the rolls or bags but you can reuse them. I buy a lot of whole cheeses and cut up into portions the cheese keeps far longer in perfect condition than just wrapped and in the fridge.

I have been looking at this for a while and kept procrastinating due to the price. After reading reviews elsewhere I decided to give it a try and I am delighted. I live on my own and wanted to be able to buy bulk and keep everything in single portions and fresh to reduce wastage and this has been achieved. I imagine all the FoodSaver sealers are similar to operate - basically insert a bag or create a bag from a roll and off it goes and vacuum seals. Simple to operate. Remember to buy additional rolls as the samples contained in the box will not last long. Wish I had bought sooner.

Was this an extravagance? A year on - how would I cope without it?! I bulk buy due to living in an isolated location, batch bake and make sausages etc. With this little baby, I can keep supplies stocked with no worries about freezer burn, transfer of flavours and smells or having to waste stuff we don't use immediately. Family often request sausages, so freezing or chilling and vacuum packing help send them safely (suitably insulated and packaged) all over Britain and Europe. That money was well spent! However - how about a variety of bag sizes to save more time and effort, pretty please?

I thought about this purchase for a while before buying, mainly because "would I really used it?" the answer is yes I use it a lot and it has probably saved me a lot of money in not wasting food. It's great for splitting larger packs of meat/fish when they are on offer but I also use it for dried food stuff too, again splitting large packs between the family. I have had the occasional problem with feeding the bags in but I get there eventually it's more when you are getting to the end of the roll.
