OXO Good Grips® 8 Cup French Press

The first time I used this it I was pleased it did what it said - the double silicone filter did its job and captured all the grounds. However, the filter no longer does its job and I find grounds coming through the pouring spout so I am filtering my coffee through the tea strainer. If you are prepared to buy coffee beans to make courser gounds then this will eliminate the problem but you should not have to do this. Its saving grace is the ladle which makes removing the grounds less of a chore. Unfortunately it does not live up to its description.

Good design, poor execution, silicone lip does not make a tight enough seal letting coffee grounds around side. Not worth the extra money over its competitors. A slightly larger/ thicker silicone seal would potentially solve this problem and improve this product

I bought this to replace my old broken cafetiere and have used it with the same well known brand of coffee as I used to use. The results have been very disappointing as the filter allows a significant amount of the grounds through resulting in a very gritty cup of coffee. A good idea that does not appear to work in practice.

I've had a similar experience to the other reviewers. The grind of the coffee doesn't appear to make much difference to the amount of grounds that come through. The reviewer that said that the silicone seal is too small is spot on. Very poor product from a company that generally produces good ones and seriously expensive to boot. Do not buy.

A lovely cafetiere but with a fatal design flaw - the plunger is slightly too small for the glass, and lets a large number of grounds through into the coffee. There seems to be no way around this, short of using a tea strainer as well. We grind our own beans, on the coarsest setting so buying coarse ground coffee as the buying team suggest in the comments below will not help - this seems to be a pretty basic design fault! Really sad as it is a lovely cafetiere and the groundskeeper worked really well, but this just doesn't work as well as our cheap and cheerful cafetiere!
