I make salad for lunch on Sunday morning, and the lettuce stays crisp with no browning until Friday. The only downside is that isn't enough variety in sizes for the containers.
I was given one of these for Christmas this year and its brilliant! I sealed up some cheese straws and 2 weeks later they are still as crispy and fresh as the day they were made!
Have been looking for something like this for a while. The system works really well as long as you make sure that the nozzle is firmly over the valve and that the bag / container seal is firmly closed. It is very easy to use and is very economical as you can reuse the bags.
While I was over in England I bought the vacu-store and extra bags. When I had got the hang of it I was thrilled with the result. The only complaint I have is that the large bags are not large enough. Some very big ones would be a good idea, with a larger opening.

I bought the vacu-store system with the pump and selection of bags, and bought a couple of the boxes as well. I love the boxes, they are easy to use and give a good vacuum seal. But I was disappointed with the bags as sealing the bags before applying the vacuum was quite tricky. To close the sealing strip properly is hard on the fingers and I would imagine would be very difficult for someone with arthritis. A few times I thought I had sealed the bags properly only to find they lose the vacuum overnight. Maybe some sort of sealing clip like you get with the clothes packmate bags would help.
