"Awful"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

In spite of greasing the sheet the cake stuck solid and I had to use a knife to loosen it. The worst Swiss roll I have ever made, if I can find the receipt I will be taking the "non stick" baking mat back to the shop

"Use other than Swiss Rolls"

star star star star star

I've never cooked a Swiss Roll, so can't comment on its usefulness for that, BUT it is in daily use for lining a baking tray for cooking everything from Chicken Kievs to plaice and bought pies, placed over the baking sheet. Nothing sticks, and it washes up really easily, more so than the baking tray would if used alone. The baking tray underneath generally doesn't need washing at all as all the food residue is on the silicon tray. Just noticed it as I was thumbing through the new catalogue, and am about to order a second one for myself and one for my daughter

"To roll or not to roll!"

I purchased this sheet yesterday and my cake cooked beautifully on it. I was wondering should I have rolled my cake on the sheet or do I need to tip it out? Would love a recommendation please.

Thanks for placing your review. We're pleased your cake has baked well. We would recommend turning out the sponge from the sheet before rolling.

"For me, it's a kitchen essential"

To my mind these silicone baking mats should be as commonplace in the kitchen cupboard as a cake tin, and I think these reviews give an unfair impression. The mats are great for biscuits, especially the kinds that tend to stick hard, e.g. tuiles, as they're very non-stick and can be pealed off the biscuit. I use an old baking sheet underneath, and that works fine. The mat also provides a good baking surface for swiss roll sponges. I agree you're unlikely to have much success rolling up the sponge directly from the mat - but all you need to do is turn it out first onto a tea towel.

"Baking Flexi-Sheet"

I have just used the sheet for the first time and greased the sheet using melted butter and a brush which worked brilliantly. As it was my first attempt at making a swiss roll I was well impressed.
