Lakeland Metallic Red 1.5 litre Slow Cooker

I've never had one of these before. Even as I ordered it, I wondered if it would be one of those gadgets which sit in the kitchen and reproach you, because you never actually use it. But I use it nearly every week. I just love being able to set up our evening meal first thing and forget about it. Also no more worries about whether the meat will be really tender at the end of it all. It always is. Took a little while to get used to the small size when it comes to recipes. But it really is perfect for two people, so no waste or fiddly saving of small portions afterwards. The colour's great too

I use this little slow cooker about 2-3 times per week, mainly to cook pinto beans which we love to eat in Mexican food. I just rinse them and put them in the pot, add boiling water from the kettle and cook about 3 hours and they're done to perfection! I had a problem with the first of these slow cookers I bought, after about 2 months one of the handles broke off, but Lakeland's customer service is excellent and they replaced it without a fuss. The new one is still going strong almost a year later.

I already have a slow cooker and love the ability to put a meal on before I go to work and have it ready when I get back. My boyfriend lives in the Middle East and when I am not around tends to snack and not make many meals so I thought I would get him something that would do for him (or us) whilst he is out there, and then would be the perfect size to take out to our boat. This is just the right size on both counts as well as being the right price and a stylish looking item. Made me smile buying from Lakeland in Doha, Qatar when I live just down the road from the Windermere shop!

I find after a busy day I don't always feel like starting a meal from scratch. This little slow cooker has been the answer. I put all the ingredients in first thing and get off to enjoy the rest of the day. On my return we can enjoy a wholesome tasty meal. A great addition to the kitchen. It is a perfect size for cooking a meal for two people and would probably do for three. It is also a lovely colour and looks good sitting on a shelf while not in use. Well done again Lakeland.

This was my first use of a slow cooker (I'm not the most experienced of cooks) and despite following the Irish Stew recipe supplied carefully I found the size of ingredients baffling. After adding veg and starting to brown the meat it was apparent that I wasn't going to be able to add the amounts of lamb listed in the recipe - there wouldn't be room in the pot, it'd be hanging over the top! If I added all that and then the amount of stock stipulated it'd be pouring down the side of the cooker. I only added 600g lamb and 300ml of stock. What did I do wrong? Very happy with the results though!
