Difficult to use even with both hands There were some nuts eg brazils that could not be cracked properly and the shell shot all over the table With walnuts the shell combined with the nuts All in all a big disappointment

Having had a bumper crop of almonds from our tree this year, I was really looking forward to "getting cracking" with this product and, from "Mary's" description in the write up it sounded idea and easy to use. Well, all I can say is Mary must be a contender for the Strongwoman of the Year! I tried this with no less than 10 nuts and not one of them came close to cracking - though I did! In case you're thinking that I might not be strong enough (and so did I at first) my burly husband had a go too with the same results! Sorry Lakeland, please ship with Mary next time!

This product bears no relation to the description on the website. It requires considerable force to crack the nuts & even then it doesn't always work. The result is generally a mash of nut and shell, with bits distributed over the table. This is a very poor product.

Having purchased my xmas nuts, what did I need? A nutcracker. Off we went to our local Lakeland to purchase this zyliss nutcracker. What a waste of time! It failed to crack a single nut! It went straight back.

My wife has just bought these today, 22 Dec 2011. I have to say they are almost useless. Hazelnuts can be cracked, walnuts are obliterated and almonds totally impossible. I cannot imagine the pressure required to crack almonds, I suspect the unit would break before the nut! They will be going back after Christmas and the nuts will be cracked with a hammer! I would rate these at 0 star but that is not an option.
