OXO Good Grips Flour Sifter

for me anyway ! I was asked to bake a wedding cake for my friends son (no pressure !!) and having made a couple of trial cakes and realising that I would probably need to bake 9 in total, I saw these. As it's eggless, a proportion of the rise depends on the air you can add. A regular sieve seemed to take forever, especially with the best part of a kilo of dry ingredients. This has made my life so much easier that I may start making everything from scratch again rather than using mixes !!! A real must have if you bake the old way !

This is a great item. The best thing about it is the bottom lid, which stops flour getting spilled all over the cupboards and is the downside of the other sifters/dredgers that I have bought. The mechanism on this works really well, so there isn't any blockage (as there is with the sifters that you turn upside down and shake). I would love it if they did a smaller version (with a bottom lid) as I'd buy several to store different trypes of flour and I don't have the room for multiple standard ones. Shame it's only available mail order. Wonder it it might work with icing sugar as well?
