Julienne strips are fiddly to do by hand – if you’ve ever spent an age trying to chop even ‘matchstick’ pieces you’ll realise how helpful this mandoline will be. Using the holder which protects the hands, slide carrots, cucumber and the like over the stainless steel blade to effortlessly make uniform 3mm strips. It’s so useful when preparing salads, stir-fry, coleslaw, sushi or garnishes. With a comfortable soft non-slip handle and foot, you can sit it over a bowl or stand it upright on a chopping board and, when not in use, the food holder clips on to safely conceal the blade.

I recently purchased the oxo julienne slicer and was excited about buying another quality product from Lakeland, but was disappointed. The julienne slicer grated rather than sliced vegetables, whether cooked or raw and was very messy indeed. It also was very wasteful, as it never seemed to completely "slice" the vegetables. I ended up using a knife again. I have bought lots of products from Lakeland over the years, and this is the first time I have been disappointed.
