"Best if the vegetables are fat!" star star star star star I bought one of these recently & I expect to have hours of fun with it! People who buy one should be aware that if, for instance, you use it on thin carrots, there will be a lot of waste (or veg to use up in other ways) and not a lot of spiral shreds. With a fat courgette the effect is explosive and I got long strips to go with the Chinese noodles we had with our stir-fry! It's perhaps a bit expensive, but I think it's worth it it you want a non-electric, easy-to-use cutter.
"Fabulous for small quantities & if you have limited strength" star star star star star This is so simple to use! I can't work a large spiralizer as I have very limited arm strength. I find this really easy. Finally I can have lovely courgette (and with a bit more effort) carrot 'spaghetti'! For extra leverage and to save my fingernails a the end!), i use a fork jabbed in the end of the vegetable rather than the provided plastic bit so can't comment on that bits efficacy. However This little dream of a tool does much much better than my various julienne tools (although the they have their very useful place in my kitchen too). Well done Lakeland; another perfect product.
"groovy veg" star star star star star I made spaghetti bolognese tonight for the first time since I began my diet. My husband had regular spaghetti and I made myself vegetable spaghetti from carrot and courgette-it was delicious and it cooked really quickly. There were some stubby bits of vegetable left, but they will go into my home made vegetable soup. Another great gadget from Lakeland.
"great gadget" star star star star star what a great little bgadget, was given my as a gift (thank you!) yes I do get some veg left over (the 'core' and the end bit that you can't push through) but I just pop these in a bag and put them in the freezer to add to soups at a later date, no need to waste it!
"Small and Great" star star star star star This is a nice piece of equipment, small and compact, a real space saver for the smaller kitchen. It takes some practice to get good results and when you do, it's well worth it. There are two grades of spirals, and the spiralizer works well with firm vegetables, and, as has been said, works on the "pencil sharpener" principle. There is some excess remaining as not all of the vegetable can reach the shredding blades, but these can be saved or finely chopped. Like many smaller appliances, for example compact bread maker, the Spirelli works well against it's bigger counterparts. Recommended.
