"I'll miss it when it's gone"

I can't understand why there have been so many negative reviews of this product. I have used it many times when good, cheap strawberries are not available in the quantities required to make jam. I always add 200g of chopped strawberries (and when necessary, I'll even resort to the forced Spanish ones) to each tin of puree and that produces tasty jam which sets easily. As my strawberry jam is in great demand from my grandchildren, I'm concerned that when this product is removed from Lakeland stores, I won't be able to meet their year-round requirements !

"Applied logic..."

I decided to try an alternative approach. I used Jam Sugar (for added Pectin), added one punnet of chopped fresh strawberries, two tablespoons of lime juice and a teaspoon of chilli flakes (not essential, just my bloke taste) You really do need a "Vesuvian" rolling boil (using a large stock pot or preferably a preserving pan) and I did this for 45 minutes, testing for a 'wrinkle' throughout, using a knob of butter at the end to disperse the small amount of scum. It has set beautifully and smells and tastes great - the rather odd odour at the beginning does disappear if you follow this method.

"Not so good!"

Having previously purchased, made, and loved all the different marmalades we looked forward to making strawberry jam. But big surprise the tin was full of nothing but red liquid which was slightly acidic and didn't taste of strawberries. We threw it away. Best advice is to wait for the Summer and get real strawberries.

"great for cleaning sinks"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

purchased to sell in aid of local dog rescue what a waste of money not only tasted awful would not set taking into account extra costs of sugar, labels, jam pot covers, fuel, time, washing up and purchase of material and making of mob cap hats a very expensive exercise. As in my title left a sparkling clean sink when disposed of. This product must be described as not fit for purpose. Why is Lakeland still selling ? despite customer reviews ? only wish I had read them first.

"Disappointed"

Tried this product twice now and have been very unhappy with result. Doesn't even taste like strawberries.Couldn't get it to set even adding more fruit ,you can't keeping boiling it as it would taste burnt. Won't use it again ,will just stick to the marmalade which is perfect every time.
