Lakeland Fully Forged Stainless Steel Bread Knife 22cm Blade 5 "Excellent knife" Joyce 13 October 2018 A beautifully balanced knife. Feels good and weighty but cuts even the chunkiest loaf with ease. Bought it to replace a worn out bone-handled vintage knife that had reached the end of the road. This is a worthy replacement.
Lakeland Fully Forged Stainless Steel Bread Knife 22cm Blade 5 "Heritage in the steel" Mr Graham 16 May 2018 This bread knife can trace its lineage back to the Battle of Hastings. The Bayeux Tapestry shows the earliest iteration as a double handled battle sword, wielded by Anglo-Saxon soldiers fighting the French. A fearsome weapon in battle, it was nevertheless found wanting when it came to thinly slicing a freshly baked sourdough loaf. Blacksmiths through the ages honed and tempered the design, resulting in the present day version seen here. A weighty but well balanced blade featuring the traditional scalloped edge, it fears neither crust nor malted grain. Buy it with confidence.
