This cooks rice perfectly. Well it does until you have a senior moment and forget to add the water. Tried to cook rice without it, once I'd replaced the microwave, but just couldn't get the same result. A new steamer is now in place and, hopefully, will last many years. Sadly it's not idiot-proof! Great product. Wouldn't be without it.
I bought a rice steamer months ago and use it all of the time and it's great. Fifteen minutes microwave cooking and it's done, no standing over the pan to make sure rice is not catching on the bottom.
The old Lakeland "clear" steamer, they worked brilliantly for a short time then the body would crack. I replaced my last one with this updated red one, and I am completely delighted with it, it cooks the rice as well as the clear one did, and it is much more robust.
Quite a few years ago (pre 2005!!) I bought several of the Green /opaque steamers. I gave them a presents to my mum , my children and friends as I loved it so, and I still do, mine is still going strong and used at least 2 times a week! My son however has damaged his in a recent house move, in Germany. I was glad to find you still sold them.
I had to replace my 40 year old rice pot after it disintegrated, I'm quite glad it did disintegrate as my new one is MARVELLOUS! I really looked forward to using this tonight for a light supper and I was not disappointed, it was so easy to use and with it doubling up as a rinsing tool too it cut down on pots. Part way through the rice being cooked I dropped some brocolli, carrot, red onions, ginger, garlic and mixed peppers into the post - we have just had a lovely supper with only one cooking pot used . . perfect. Lakeland, you produced another winner! Thank you :-)
