Lakeland Microwave Crisp Maker

Product number: 15171

Potato crisps made in the microwave? We’ll admit to being a bit dubious to begin with, but when we heard they’re much healthier than standard crisps, requiring absolutely no oil or salt, we were willing to give them a try; following the communal crunch as we tasted the samples, we’re happy to declare ourselves completely converted!

Quick and so easy to make, just use the slicer lid to cut your peeled potato into the collection bowl, arrange the slices in the cooking rack and place in the microwave for just a few minutes before tucking in.

"Tasty crisps!"

star star star star star_border

I didn't think this would work but it does! The crisps are lovely and it's great to eat them without feeling guilty. However, there a couple of gripes. I agree with most of the reviews: The gripper doesn't work, so I've resorted using a clean cloth to hold the potato. My old microwave does take longer to cook them but I'm also using new potatoes (1st crop from allotment) which may take longer to crisp up. I also wish it could be bigger to make more crisps as they do tend to stick if not monitored - slots are very close together (works better by using alternate slots). Pleased I bought it tho'

"Good potato crisps"

star star star star star

I'm pleased with this. It looked so small when I opened it but it does make good crisps. I find that it's better if the crisps are spread out more, ie 1 slice of potato in every other slot. New potatoes take 4 to 5 minutes in my mw but do watch them while they're cooking as they so easily burn and don't taste so good.

Like the end result- crispy crisps. The down side is the blade guard, ours snapped after one days use.Can still use it as a guard however just needs a knife to eject. The other annoying thing is the potatoe holder does not hold the potatoe, and one has to resort to holding the potatoe with one's hands. So far no cuts! Tried a fork but sooner or later the prongs get in the way. Fiddly to use sometimes ,unless really well spaced out on the plastic microwave rack, the crisps get tangled up. Use it twice a day at present and enjoying the results. Agree with comments about times.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review about the microwave potato crisper. I'll be sure to pass on your comments about the potato holder. To remove the guard - lift the tab until you hear a click then pull.

"Dangerous 2 - Caught fire"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Having used the crisp maker 3 times with very good results (5mins 900W microwave), the fourth time wasn't as good! The maker caught fire in my microwave filling my kitchen with smoke and the microwave with flames and melting plastic. Be careful with this product.

support_agent A note from the team

Thank you for taking the time to submit this review. We take all our reviews very seriously and were extremely concerned to hear about your experience with the crisp maker. Someone will be in touch with you to sort this out for you, and in the meantime we've now withdrawn the crisp maker from sale.

"VERY DANGEROUS!! "

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I was very excited about this product and waited weeks to get it. I opened the packet and attempted to remove the blade protector, the pull tab broke off, I ended up removing it with a knife. I then tried to attach the potato to the potato gripper supplied. It would not grip at all. After waiting for weeks I could not wait any more so chipped the potatoes on the blade by hand as the gripper did not work. I sliced my finger badly. I am very cross that such an item was not properly checked and thank God I did not lose my finger.

We were very sorry to learn about your experience with the microwave crisp maker and appreciate you talking to our customer ambassador team about this. In line with the safety instructions on the packaging, we'd always recommend using the potato gripper to slice the potatoes.
