Contrary to the other reviews I have found this topper a great addition to breakfast. We have foreign students staying and they all troop off to Lakeland to buy it, only to find it's being discontinued. It has always worked beautifully for me.

This egg topper is truly excellent! We have our own chickens so regularly have boiled eggs. I have tried many egg toppers and this one is by far the best. I can only think that reviewers who dont like it must have been using it incorrectly. It scores the egg perfectly and the top of the egg can be lifted off easily without ANY broken shell. A perfect edge. I went to get another one to give to my grandson as a present at Christmas and found it had been discontinued :-( Bring it back Lakeland - we will buy a few!
I was hoping this gadget would put an end to peeling hot egg shells, but unfortunately it doesn't work! Not only did it not remove the top of the shell, having eaten the egg, the empty shell got stuck in the cup and I had to dig it out with a knife. Lastly, the egg cup is made of cheap, flimsy plastic. All in all, a complete waste of £6.99, and I would have given it no stars if that was an option.

I thought this would be great but, unfortunately, no matter how many times you spin the chickens head, all it does is make a horrible, grinding noise before leaving just a scored circle of shell on top of the egg. You still have to use fingers to peel away the hot shell, getting gritty, powdered shell all over them and the egg. It now sits at the back of a cupboard.

I'm tired of peeling away at my eggs and getting burnt fingers and egg shell everywhere then I found this nifty gadget. Whilst the idea behind the egg topper is good I dont think it really lives up to the expectations. Egg gets scribed by the cutting blade & the scribe mark allows you to lopp the top off. The downside is that you still have the crimbly mess of scored egg shell falling into your dippy free range dippy egg! Ughh! If you are looking for the perfect solution then I maybe you should keep looking. Novelty factor 10/10, Practicality 5/10. Would I recommend? No.
