Cake Lifter

Along with decent cake tins and someone else to wash up, this cake lifter is an essential piece of kit. I've been wanting one since I saw it on a cookery show last year, and thought 'aha! they do make them then' but they weren't available in the UK. Previously, I'd been making do with an oven glove and a fish slice.This is sturdy, well made, has an excellent non stick surface and a handle that grips well. It is a bit heavy, so will support rich fruit cakes, but use two hands.I'm going to use this mainly for getting cakes from tins just after baking to prevent that 'cake tipped onto cooling rack and gets marks on the top' problem.It also moves cakes from place to place of course and could be used for pizzas. I do wonder if the non stick might be marked by scratching against the oven racks if used to put or take out pizza from the oven though.All in all, a brilliant piece of kit.

Very useful tool! It made removing my cake from its base, as easy as pie! Before I used to very carefully slide a knife beneath the cake, worried that i would damage the underside. Now i slide the cake lifter beneath the cake and it works quickly and very cleanly.

This is great, it's a perfect size and extremely non-stick. In fact I nearly lost the cake the first time I used it! Perfect for tiered cakes, I don't know what I'd do without it now.
