Kuhn Rikon Frosting Deco Pen

I was bought this pen as a Christmas present as I love to make cupcakes. But...this pen is absolute rubbish and a complete waste of money. Not one of Lakelands usual excellent ideas.Its fiddly, messy and doesnt pump the icing out properly, its a lot easier and more accurate to use a bag and nozzle. Dont bother to buy!

Ended up with a very messy cake! The 'slow' was too fast and it was difficult and messy to fill. Am going to buy an old fashioned piping bag and nozzle set from Lakeland instead as I feel I will have more control over the icing!

I thought I would try this as an easy way for me to ice cakes - I was very wrong. I suffer from arthritis and thought that this was an ideal way to manage icing. It was very difficult to start off with - it was an absolute nightmare to fill up the pen to start with. No matter how thick or thin the icing was, it would not come out and ice as advertised. I had to resort to using icing bags, luckily I had bought some anyway. I will always stick to icing bags now and I wish I had never bought this icing pen.

I bought this as soon as it appeared in the catalogue, but have only just got around to using it. How disappointed I am! I was expecting it to be a step up from my Metal Pump action Icing Gun (which Lakeland no longer stock) but it is a complete let down. Even on fast speed it is so slow it's ridiculous! The capacity is far too small, so you can only manage to do a few cakes etc before having to redo the messy refilling process. It really struggles with butter cream, so I thought maybe that was too thick for it, but when I tried simple whipped cream it was no better! A waste of money!

I was given this as a gift for my birthday recently and then unfortunately read the reviews. I was left feeling disappointed, but after trying it for myself I was absolutely thrilled with it. It was very easy to use, clean, efficient and my family were very impressed with the results. Top class.
