Lakeland Cast Iron Griddle Pan

I prepared my first Rib-eye and the griddle worked perfectly. The griddle is now 'seasoned' and ready for my next steak. So, turn up the heat and turn on the extractor fan and enjoy. I think this griddle is great value for money compared to other similar brands.

This is a superb griddle pan, and excellent value for money - every bit as good as the obvious orange competitor, at about half the price! Unlike some other pans I've looked at, this one has a very flat base so it heats evenly, and is enamelled so it can be used on a ceramic hob without scratching it. If you're not used to cast iron cookware then you really do need to read the instructions carefully first and follow them scrupulously. It's a bit more effort to look after, and it takes a time to come up to temperature, but used properly it is non-stick and easy to clean, and should last years.

For the price, this is a good alternative to the traditional french branded option. It looks great and is nice and heavy - pouring spouts v useful. Make sure you clean it while still hot, otherwise you'll be scrubbing for hours.

The pan is unfortunately not dishwasher safe and the handle gets hot during cooking. This information is mentioned in the packaging and I believe it should be included in the product description online. The size mentioned in the product description does not depict the actual cooking space, but the pan from end to end, making it tiny compared to previous pans I've owned or e.g. suitable for only one steak or two small ones, but e.g. chicken fajitas no way.
