The first stage sharpens the blade, the second hones it, and in doing so creates a double-bevelled edge that stays sharp for longer, resisting premature dulling.

Knife sharpening for disabled hands can be tricky. I have very weak wrists and suffer a lot of pain if I have to put pressure on any kitchen equipment. This sharpener really works (almost too well so be careful) but without heavy effort. Would give it 6 stars!
I have tried all sorts of sharpeners over the years but this one is the best so far in terms of effectiveness and ease of use. My arthritic hands can be very painful if I try to chop or slice with a knife which is less than sharp, but equally the sharpeners themselves can be hard to use. This one allows you to sharpen just by moving the knife backwards and forwards in the groove, and you can rest it on a work surface when sharpening, so it is a safe and easy process. It is a very good buy for the price and at least as good as more expensive ones I have owned.
I have been trying for years to find a good knife sharpener....many were simply not up to the task.However, after looking at the 90 second video of this product, I thought I may have just one last try.Well, at £19.99p this product is simply brilliant it really does sharpen kitchen knives in a few gentle strokes to a clean edge.If you want a good knife sharpener look no further than this product
