Large Purple Stoneware Tagine

Product number: 14235

Tender, slowly simmered stews, or vegetables in aromatic sauces, made with a medley of herbs and spices, will be all the more tempting when served straight from our beautifully glazed stoneware cooking pots.

The rich, Moroccan-inspired hues give an exotic appeal to these traditional handmade tagines, and because steam rises in the conical lid before recondensing into the food below, results will always be mouth-wateringly succulent.

Oven safe up to 250°C and can be used on the hob with a diffuser.

"Tagine"

Just used tagine for first time, followed instructions to the letter, food superb. Afraid tagine full of cracks - gutted.

We're sorry that you had this experience. To prevent cracking, cold or room temperature sauces should not be added to a hot tagine - they should be heated first. Or you can brown the meat in a frying pan then add the meat and sauce to the tagine prior to heating. We'll be in touch to help.

"Beautiful and functional!"

I think it’s a shame some other reviewers have had a bad experience with their tagine, as mine has been nothing but wonderful! It’s roomy, certainly large enough for a meal for 4, and very versatile. I’ve used it roughly a dozen times now (all oven-cooking, so perhaps the problem is that despite the description in the booklet its actually NOT suitable for stove-top cooking) and its still in pristine condition And aside from serving its purpose cooking wonderful tagines, stews and roasts; it looks fantastic on my shelf when not in use! Very pleased all round.

"Purple Tagine"

I live in Spain and on my sister's annual visit to me recently, I was delighted to find she had bought me this tagine. However, yesterday, my third time of cooking with it, I discovered that the base (the side) had cracked. Before using the tagine I had read and followed the instructions for use. I am very disappointed as I have wanted a tagine for a long time, especially since all the ingredients required for Moroccan cooking are very easy to find here in Spain.

We checked with our buyers who advise allowing the tagine to cool completely before handwashing after use to avoid cracking the ceramic, and being careful not to immerse the lid in water. Hairline cracks may also occur if cold sauces or stock are poured into a warm tagine. We'll contact you to help.

"Broke after 2 uses"

I thought this looked nice and at a good price, but with retrospect I wish I just spent a little more to get one of better quality. First time in oven it developed hairline cracks. Second time the cracks parted and distributed hot contents all over the oven. It’s never been used on the hob and never cold ingredients added when hot.
