"Not warm and scratches easily"

star star star_border star_border star_border

I was bought this last Christmas as a present. I used it and wasn't impressed and I just pulled it out last night to test it again. The first time I used it I scratched the surface a lot just by putting plates on. I have thick stoneware plates which also means that they can't be heated up by the tray as it is quite weak. It would work better with china plates, but even then they could only be stacked 2 or 3 plates high. All of my serving dishes are too thick to be kept warm by the tray too.

"Warming tray"

star star star star_border star_border

Bought this for Xmas, overall does what it says, but ~I've used it twice and it looks 10 years old - didn't use earthenware products on it either - used Pyrex! Any way to get rid of scratches? Would using a cooker liner underneath the dishes still keep food as hot?

Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. The stainless steel reviver (product reference 23456) or the Maas metal polishing cream (product reference 7247) will help restore the finish of the tray. It's fine to use a cooking liner under the dishes. Anything that conducts heat and is heat proof would work well.

"be careful scratches badly"

Wish I had read these reviews before using. We used fine bone china on this and it was very badly scratched after one use! Not really fit for purpose unless you don't mind it looking old and tatty after one use.

"very useful product but the booklet isn't!"

star star star star_border star_border

Useful and does what it should, however, the booklet was confusing - it refers to a on/off switch - there isn't one - the only way to switch the tray on is by plugging it in and switching on the socket! It also refers to a green light when the tray has reached temperature - mine hasn't got a green light, I can only see a yellow/orange light! I also decided that it was best not to use the tray actually on the table as my guests kept burning themselves as they reached over to the dishes on top - a 'heatproof' lip around the edge of the tray would have been useful and avoided these accidents, It would have also prevented the dishes from sliding off as they did tend to move about a bit which was worrying. A light which stays on whilst the tray is hot would also have been useful as unless you touch it you don't know whether it is has cooled down enough to put away etc, maybe alight which dims or changes colour as the tray cools? Overall pleased, but I would reiterate common sense and caution when using!

"Great for family meals"

star star star star star

I bought this to keep my food warm over the festive season and for general use as food cools quickly on our granite table.I am delighted with this product, it sits in the middle of the table when not in use, heats up quickly and stays warm for ages.Be careful with earthenware though as it scratches the stainless steel top, but that is unavoidable.
