A mandoline is an essential piece of kitchen kit, but the exposed blades are just as sharp as a knife. With that in mind, we set Swiss innovators Zyliss the challenge of creating one that keeps fingers completely safe at all times during use, and here it is.
The key is the patented 'spring lock' system – just hold the mandoline at the top, pull the safety trigger, and only then are the blades revealed so you can begin slicing. Adjust the selector on the handle to choose from one of the three thicknesses – there are no interchangeable blades to swap (another safety bonus) – while a knob at the side allows you to switch from slicing to julienne – exclusive to this model.
With non-slip feet, and grooves to sit firmly in place over a bowl. Includes blade guard and collapsible stand for safe, simple storage.

“Mandolines have very sharp blades so should be handled carefully. Here at Lakeland we only sell mandolines with a slider guard to hold the food in place whilst slicing and to ensure that fingers do not come into contact with the blades.
The secret for success is to let the mandoline do the work for you - move the slider up and down without applying pressure and in no time at all you will have sliced or shredded produce - applying pressure can cause your food to jam in the blade. We recommend you always use the clip on the food holder.

I have finally been "allowed" to have a mandoline as this one is so safe. No extra blades to change or store yet still offers three thickness of slice and separate julienne at the slide or turn of a knob. Really stable and so simple to use. Streamlined for storage. Easy clean. 100% recommend.
I have a mandoline and more often than I care to recount I have lost the tops of my fingernails and have come to losing most of finger too, but not with this mandoline. I used it as soon as I received it and it works a treat, and more to the point, totally safe and hazard free
I thought it might be a bit fiddly using the food holder, but it was great and allowed a very smooth action. I used it for the first time today to slice onions and raw potatoes. Out of curiosity I used the julienne function for raw carrot and it didn't quite get through totally, but I don't mind too much as I really bought it for slicing. It's going to be used a lot I can tell!
Arrived the day after ordering - unbelievable service. Have tried this out on various fruit and veg and slicing function works like a dream. Julienne veg aren't quite the perfect little matchsticks shown in the photo but this is the easiest way I've ever found to do them. Main recommendation, though, is the way the blades are concealed - first time I've ever felt 'safe' using a mandolin. Also very easy to store. Couldn't be more pleased
I have recently bought this product and am very pleased with it. I like the design and the safety aspect covering the blade when not in use, and also the food holder. I have not tried julienne strips yet, but bought it mainly for slicing. Very satisfied with product. The free peeler that comes with it is absolutely brilliant. Best peeler I've had.
