"Mixed Feelings" star star star_border star_border star_border I bought these kitchen scales a few weeks ago, after my other kitchen scales finally died after many years of service. I was attracted by the 2 positive reviews that I had read on lakeland. It is a large set of scales and if you have a small kitchen, like me, then storage could be a problem. However, I like the large stainless steel platform and this can be removed for cleaning. Like many kitchen scales, there is the facility to measure out ingredients in ounces or grams however, as I find I interchange between the two, it would have been more useful to have positioned the button for this on the front, top or side rather than on the underside of the scales. The one main problem that I had with the scales is that the 'OFF' button is very tempremental and often does not work when I press it and hold it down for a few seconds as directed. I find that I have to press it two, three or four times, each time at a slightly different angle to the previous time, before it eventually switches off. For scales that cost as much as these do, it is disappointing. support_agent A note from the team thanks for placing your review. Sorry that the scales have disappointed you. I'll be in touch shortly to help.
"The best weighing machine I've ever owned" star star star star star I bought one of these a few months ago before Lakeland listed it. It is the best weighing machine I've ever owned and I've had a few. It can weigh up to 10kg so I can check the weight of large joints or poultry. There's a switch on the base if you need to use Imperial measures. The weighing platform is extra large and removable and can be washed after use, which is a great convenience. For example, I recently bought a whole salmon weighing about 3kg that I cut up into different-sized portions that I weighed individually directly on the platform. Similarly I weigh dough directly on the stainless steel plate when making breads or pastries. It has a Tare system so you can put a receptacle on the plate and then get the weight of what you add. The high capacity means that even a heavy casserole/pan doesn't exceed the weight limit. When I'm doing a long weighing session I plug the machine into the mains as this lengthens the time before it shuts down. The machine is sturdily-built and a bit heavier than most. I store it on its end up against the wall at the back of my work-top, which means it occupies very little space.Thoroughly recommended.
"Great Machine" star star star star star A great machine with a sensible weight range, allows you to weigh directly into your mixing bowl even the Mason & Cash traditional bowl. I have been playing with it for 30 odd minutes since it arrived this evening. Trying different combinations and lots of ingredients. Can't fault them and being able to plug them in as well, someone has thought about this weighty problem. No nonsense controls ON / TARE, OFF. Only and a switch for oz's/lbs, and gm's/kgs. It also has a large platform about 7 X 12 inches, and takes up no more space then normal low capacity machines.
