Potatoes are one of the hardest things to keep fresh but Maggie Lyons from Bath has come up with a storage bag which keeps them at their optimum freshness for longer.
Made of two separate layers, Spuddybag has a mesh outer bag which lets air circulate so spuds stay firmer for longer, and an inner bag with a drawstring and a dark, cotton interior to keep light out, reducing the possibility of sprouting and turning green.
Made from canvas and hessian

Received this as a Christmas present but after several frustrating attempts to try and work out how it fitted together abandoned it to a cupboard. Have just looked at the pictures on the website and it is now finally sitting in the corner of my kitchen storing potatoes- looks great but please include instructions!
I bought this last year and haven't thrown out a potato since then. It does not stop the sprouting, but I was told that this was the case by the designer. However, the sprouts that do form are much softer and whiter and can easily be rubbed off. They don't affect the taste or colour of the potato like the usual sprouts. We get through quite a lot of potatoes so their maximum life in the spuddy bag for us is probably no more than 10 days. The added bonus is that the bag is very well made looks good sat on top of the kitchen unit. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you don't eat many potatoes.
I bought a Spuddy bag from your Exeter Store, and I must say that I am very pleased with it. I thought that it was lovely looking, and made to a high standard. Even more so,I was very impressed as to how well it keeps my potatoes. I know that you cannot STOP the sprouting happening, but after flicking off the very weak sprouts the potatoes are still very edible. As I found after going on holiday for a fortnight!!. I must say I never usually write reviews, but I felt I had to in this case.
