Metaltex Mandoline

I had high hopes of this little gadget, it looked versatile and I thought good value for the money. It's a great idea to store the blades within the gadget itself but you must remember to remove them before starting work otherwise you'll end up having to wash them all.Once I started using it, I soon became frustrated with its performance. The slicer worked beautifully for potato, courgette and tomatoes but when I switched to the grater to do some carrots, it was hopeless and as for red cabbage, well forget it! It was hard work - food gets stuck in the gap between the finger protector and the blade and it's difficult (and dangerous) to remove. When grating, the food splatters all over the work surface. Overall, I would rate this gadget 3/10. It simply doesn't do the job.

I bought this product from the Derby branch of Lakeland. I'm not impressed with it and regret buying it. It repeatedly clogs and jams when I try to slice almost anything, the slicing thickness is too thin, there's only one slice thickness, the blade isn't wide enough and doesn't feel very sharp, the safety holder can't hold many products... I don't know where to begin or to stop about how disappointed I am in it! I think this product should be withdrawn from sale.

Very difficult to grate cheese without it jamming, will not sit on a bowl - slides all over the place. Very disappointed in spending £15 on this item - bought a £3 simple grater from a supermarket which works much better!

It's not very often I'm disappointed with a Lakeland product but this mandoline just doesn't do the job. It slices ok, but none of the other blades work. There's quite a gap between the pusher and the blade and food just gets stuck and won't move.

I'm usually really pleased with purchases from Lakeland but not in this instance. I recently bought this item and was very disappointed with it. I wanted it mainly to slice things like cucumber/tomatoes/carrots etc. It cuts cucumber far too thin and made a complete mess of slicing a tomato - I ended up with a mushy mess. I wish I hadn't purchased this.
